Community Watch Awareness

Making a safe neighborhood and ultimately a safe community starts with YOU!  At a meeting in October of 2009, Sheriff Eddie Cathey and participating deputies shared that knowing your neighborhood, knowing your neighbors and "keeping an eye" on your surroundings are the keys to better public safety.  There is no substitute for staying observant.  Sheriff Cathey recommends that people call 911 immediately if you see a crime in progress, if you are a victim of a crime or if you see a suspicious person or vehicle (try to get a detailed description of the suspicious person or the license plate number and the vehicle description (make, model, year, color) of the suspicious vehicle.  No crime is too small to report.

The Mineral Springs Town Council purchased 10 Community Crime Watch signs for the benefit of the community.  These signs will be given out to those communities that establish a Community Watch program.

For further information, you may contact Lt William Thompson at the Union County Sheriff's Office - 704-283-3765.
